Whuff-aoke or Bust!

I’m super duper stoked to kick off the site for this most excellent adventure today!

First of all…thanks to William Dodson for the beautiful, lovely and awesome design! Isn’t it spectacular? I really ran William through the gauntlet to get this done in record time, but wow! You rawk! Thanks also to the sponsors who are already on board – JustinTV and Nokia – rawk!

Secondly, here it is! Whuffaoke or Bust! In the ferrealz! There is still so much to do between now and when we leave in about six weeks time – like figuring out the RV/Bus situation, arranging stuff at each stop, getting sponsors, packing my stuff, finding a place to live in Montreal, etc – but I am super excited that it is happening!

The idea first came to me when hanging with Tony and Alex in the {RV}IP Lounge at SXSW this year. We mused about how awesome the concept of driving around and singing karaoke is. Then I proclaimed that my dream is to quit my job and karaoke across America. Both Tony and Alex agreed that would be rad. Only thing was…I wasn’t kidding. The plan was hatched.

I couldn’t get the idea out of my mind. With my book coming out and my general need to move on from San Francisco, it all started coming together. I hired William Dodson to design Whuffaoke.com, talked to my boss about winding things down, poked Tony and Alex (who both jumped on the idea) and got the ball rolling. Within weeks, it was confirmed that I am moving to Montreal and that my move was going to become this event. I AM GOING TO DO IT! Wa-hoo!

But in order to do this, we still need to get some pieces together. Thusfar, I’ve reserved a Penske Truck with a hitch. But we don’t have a trailer/RV/Bus/Whatever to sleep in/karaoke in/have fun in. If anyone has a suggestion of who could loan us one or a travel company that would sponsor us for the tour, that would rawk. This is all out of pocket.

We also need to coordinate with people at the various stops to get locations and events together. We want to make it a major event at every stop. Good karaoke, in depth conversation and great times meeting people F2F who we really only know virtually. Definitely drop us a line if you want to be our point person at each stop.
